"Critique of the book "The Crafters and Their Business Life in the Safavid Period: Essays in the Socio-Economic History of Iran

اين نوشتار به نقد و بررسي كتاب «پيشه ­وران و زندگي صنفي آنان در عهد صفوي: جستارهايي در تاريخ اجتماعي – اقتصادي ايران» تأليف مهدي كيواني اختصاص دارد، اثري كه در زمان تأليف نخستين كتاب مستقل با اين موضوع محسوب مي‌شد. مولف متأثر از آراي متفكران قرن 19 ميلادي اروپاي غربي به بررسي تخصصي بخش‌هايي از تحولات اجتماعي اين عصر پرداخته و سعي در اثبات اين نظريه دارد كه حكومت صفوي مانع شكل‌گيري اصناف قدرتمند مستقل و در نتيجه پويايي اقتصادي اين دوران بود. نوشتار در شش بخش و 31 زير بخش سامان­دهي شده است. بعد از بخش نخست كه معرفي كلي اثر را شامل مي­ شود، بخش بررسي و تحليل ابعاد شكلي اثر و بعد از آن معرفي نويسنده و مترجم قرار دارد. اما مهمترين بخش‌هاي اين بررسي، پيشينه پژوهش درباره اصناف در ايران و خارج از ايران و تحليل و بررسي محتوايي اثر است كه بخش اخير در دو قسمت نقد درون ساختاري و برون ساختاري ارائه شده است. اين نقد نخستين خروجي «طرح نقد و بررسي آثار حوزه پژوهش هاي تاريخ اجتماعي» است كه بر اساس چارچوب شوراي بررسي متون وكتب علوم انساني بازآرايي شده است.

This article focuses on the critique of the book "The Crafters and Their Business Life in the Safavid Period: Essays in the Socio-Economic History of Ir@n" by Mahdi Kavani. This work was considered as the first independent book on the subject. The author influenced the views of the nineteenth-century thinkers of Western Europe which explored some of the social developments in this age and tries to prove that the Safavid government was preventing the formation of powerful independent autonomous merchants and, consequently, the economic dynamism of this period. This work is organized in six sections and 31 sub-sections. After the first part, which includes the general introduction of the work, The section examines and analyzes the dimension of the effect and then introduces the author and translator. But the most important part of this review is the background of the research on guilds in Iran and beyond, and analyzing the effect of the content. The latter section is presented in two parts: introspection and outsourcing critique. This critique is the first output of the "Review of the Impact of the Research on Social History" Which has been reorganized in the framework of the Council for the Study of Texts and Humanities Books.
