On Generalized Linear Models

Various nonlinear or no normal regression models have been studied on an individual basis for many years. However, only in 1972 did Nadler and Wddeburm provide a unified and accessible theorical and computational framework for a class of such models, called generalized linear models (GLMs), which have been of enormous influence in statistics. This paper has been republished by Kotz and Johnson (1992). Since 1972 much work has been undertaken to extend the theoretical basis and the range of application of this model. In this paper, we introduce some of the key works related to the GLMs. We also provide a simple presentation of the basic idea.
