Pollution deposit on electric insulation system of T&D networks in southern part of Iran near the coast of Persian Gulf and Oman Sea is the major reason of insulation faults in these areas. severity of Desert-Coastal pollution level and severe climatic condition i.e. long dry period, high degree of thermal-humidity combination, sea-born wind blowing and frequent dew formation during the year, make the pollution layer of insulators wet. This phenomenon with forming a conductive route causes passing the leakage current which will lead to the flashover occurrence finally.
By determination of maximum pollution severity on insulation systems in 10 test station which were installed in different parts of coastal area in Sistan & Baluchestan province and with analyzing the adaptability of test results with environmental parameters variation including dry period length, max. Temperature, relative humidity, vapor pressure and dominated wind direction of region it was found out that there would be a correlation between the rate of pollution deposit and environmental parameters variation which can be simulated by statistical analysis and neural systems. The local operation experiences confirm this phenomenon. In this paper in addition to the pollution map, the result of research and discussion regarding to the above mentioned concepts, has been presented.
