Functionalities & Advantages of Automation System Implementation in Distribution Systems

Application of Conventional methods for operation, maintenance, and protection of distribution network is faced with enormous difficulties in large scale systems. So, Data gathering, filing and system automation which is "A system that enables an electric utility to remotely monitor, coordinate and operate distribution components in a real-time mode from remote location" is necessary. In this paper after brief explaining of Automation Concept; Distribution Automation will be explained and then itʹs it functionalities from IEEE point of view, construction and elements will be presented. Relation between SCADA and Distribution Automation and it advantages is another part of the paper.
