Fault Detection in 20 KV Feeders with Fault Indicators, Simulation And Application

Due to Iran distribution networks, outages arises from environmental reasons or equipmentʹs failures, it is necessary to detect & indicate fault location especially on O/H lines as soon as possible to decrease the non served energy as low as possible. Fault indicators as a fault sensor which detect the fault and send the required information to Data acquisition or dispatching center is one of the excellent tools in this propose. Because of fault indicators advantages against relays such as low price, easy installation, the method of their detection and operation are analyzed and simulated in this essay and it has been shown that these equipments with combination of Distribution Remote Terminal unit would be the best choice to be implemented in distribution Automation of Iran 20 KV system.
