Measuring Productivity Research Centers

There are different models in productivity measurement in an organization thus selection of an appropriate method depends on the objectives .This measurement will vary due to domain and function of an organization and is of a complex nature in research organizations with respect to the others due to difficulties in quantification of input & output parameters. Data Envelopment Analysis with Malmquist index is a new method that facilitates measuring efficiency and productivity in such organization. In this method, data is dimension free and one may use linear programming to obtain frontier curve in order to mark efficient and inefficient units. Thus the amount of inefficiency is identified for decision-making units. As a result based on Malmquist index, we can separate productivity trend into efficiency and technology.
