رشد جمعيت و توسعه شهرنشيني واستفاده بيش ازحد از وسايل نقليه موتوري از عوامل موثر بر افزايش دماي هوا در نواحي شهري است كه و موجب ايجاد جزيره حرارتي بر روي مناطق شهري و محيط اطراف مي شود و اثرات ناشي از آن نقشي مهمي در كيفيت هوادارد؛ به عبارت ديگر ارزش بالاي زمين سبب استفاده بيشتر از زمين براي ساخت وساز و پايين آوردن فضاي سبز شده است به طوري كه استفاده از فناوري بام سبز در شهرهاي كلان ايران درجهت بهبود كيفيت محيط زيست شهري گزينه اي مناسب باشد. اين پژوهش به صورت كاربردي و با مطالعات توصيفي_تحليلي و با استفاده از تكنيك AHP در شناسايي موانع كسترش بام سبز در مشهد پرداخته شده است. در اين راستا با بررسي زمينه هاي توسعه بام سبز و استفاده نظرات كارشناسان ابعاد اصلي عدم توسعه بام سبز شناسايي، كه حاصل آن تعيين محورها اصلي و موانع موجود هست. موانعي چون: هزينه بالا بام سبز نسبت به بام معمولي، ارزان بودن انرژي، نبود صنعت بومي بام سبز و پژوهش هاي كاربردي، نبود طرح هايي با توجيه اقتصادي در مردم و مسئولين ونبود قوانيني مدون در اين خصوص بر سر راه توسعه بام سبز مشهد محسوب مي شود. استفاده از تجربه ديگر كشورها، آشنا كردن مسئولين و مردم با مزيت بام سبز، بسترسازي براي حضور بخش خصوصي و...راهكار پيشنهادي براي بام سبز هست.
