در اين تحقيق سي دانشگاه برتر جهان در حوزه مهندسي و علم مواد نام برده شده، به بررسي بخشهاي مختلف مهندسي مواد و دانشكده هاي آن پرداخته شد. سپس تعداد كل اعضاي هيئت علمي، دانشجويان و نسبت استاد به دانشجو در اين دانشگاه ها با يكديگر مقايسه و گرايش هاي مختلف رشته مواد دانشگاههاي مورد نظر بيان شد و در انتها به بررسي و بيان تعداد كل اسناد چاپ شده و جايگاه و تعداد استاد چاپ شده در حوزه مهندسي و علم مواد پرداخته و زمينه هاي تحقيقاتي اين دانشگاهها در زمينه علم مواد بازگو شد. با بررسي موارد ذكر شده مي توان به اين نتيجه رسيد كه علم مواد گستره وسيعي از علوم و كاربردها را شامل شده و بخش قابل توجهي از تحقيقات و تمركز علمي اين دانشگاهها را در بر مي گيرد. از سوي ديگر مشاهده ميشود كه با ظهور فناوري هاي جديد، گرايش ها و زمينه هاي تحقيقاتي و مطالعاتي اين دانشگاهها جز حوزه متالورژي به حوزه مهندسي و علم مواد گرايش پيدا كرده است.

Abstract In this research, thirty of the world's top universities in the field of engineering and materials science were reviewed, and various materials engineering departments and faculties were considered. Then, the total number of faculty members, students, a nd the ratio of teacher to student at these universities were compared and the different research trends of the university subjects were expressed. Finally, the total number of published documents and the number of published documents in the field of engineering and science of materials and research fields of these universities were taught in the field of materials science. By examining the above, it can be concluded that material science includes a wide range of sciences and applications, and includes a significant part of the research and scientific concentration of these universities. On the other hand, it is observed that with the advent of new technologies, the tendencies and fields of research and studies of these universities tended from the field of metallurgy to the field of engineering and materials science.
