گردشگري ورزشي بخشي از گردشگري به شمار مي آيد كه از تلفيق ورزش و گردشگري به وجود آمده است و با سرعت بالايي در حال رشد و تبديل شدن به صنعتي بزرگ و مستقل است.هدف از اين پژوهش تحليل نقش توانمندي هاي شهرستان هاي استان اصفهان در توسعه گردشگري ورزشي مي باشد. روش پژوهش براساس هدف كاربردي و بر اساس ماهيت توصيفي –تحليلي است. جهت جمع آوري اطلاعات از پرسشنامه و آمار نامه استان اصفهان و جهت تحليل داده ها از نرم افزار EXPERT CHOICE استفاده شده است . جهت رتبه بندي از مدل رتبه بندي منطقه اي ويكور(VIKOR) و براي وزن دهي آن از مدل AHP استفاده گرديده است. و از مدل ارزيابيSWOT براي تعيين نقاط قوت ، ضعف ، فرصت و تهديد در بخش گردشگري ورزشي استفاده شده است. . نتايج حاصله از اين پژوهش نشان داد شهرستانهاي اردستان ،نايين ، گلپايگان در سه سطح اول و شهرستان هاي مباركه ، اصفهان و فريدن در سه سطح آخراز نظر شاخص هاي گردشگري ورزشي قرار دارند و موقعيت جغرافيايي مناسب استان مهمترين نقطه قوت، كمبود زير ساخت هاي ورزشي مهمترين نقاط ضعف ،رونق اشتغال در بخش هاي مختلف مهمترين فرصت و از بين رفتن تدريجي منابع طبيعي مهمترين تهديد در زمينه گردشگري ورزشي استان باشندو با توجه به نتايج به دست آمده از جدول عوامل داخلي و خارجي گردشگري ورزشي استان اصفهان استراتژي هاي so (تهاجمي) داراي بيشترين وزن مي باشد. بنابراين استان اصفهان داراي توانمندي براي توسعه گردشگري ورزشي مي باشد .
