ايجاد خطوط حمل و نقل سريع نظير مترو در كريدورهايي توجيه پذير است كه تقاضاي موردنياز آن وجود داشته باشد و ازآنجايي كه در كلان شهرها چنين تقاضايي ممكن است به خودي خود در هيچ يك از مسيرها وجود نداشته باشد، لازم است براي تامين تقاضاي مورد نياز از خطوط تغذيه كننده استفاده شود. خطوط تغذيه كننده نقش مكمل خطوط حمل و نقل همگاني سريع را دارند كه علاوه بر ايجاد دسترسي بهتر به اين خطوط باعث پوشش بيشتر سيستم هاي حمل و نقل همگاني مي شوند. با انتخاب مناسب مجموعه اي از خطوط تغذيه كننده و استفاده ازتعداد مناسب وسيله در هرخط مي توان ضمن تكميل پوشش حمل و نقل همگاني ، با كاهش زمان دسترسي مسافران به خطوط همگاني سريع زمان سفر مسافران را در استفاده از حمل و نقل همگاني كاهش داد. در اين مطالعه به ارايه مدلي براي طراحي خطوط تغذيه كننده پرداخته شده و بااستفاده از مدل پيشنهادي خطوط اتوبوس راني تغذيه كننده شبكه شهر اصفهان ، به عنوان يك شبكه واقعي ، طراحي شده است.در اين پژوهش سعي شده مدلي ارايه شود كه ضمن سرعت بالا در حل دقيق مدل براي طراحي خطوط تغذيه كننده ، امكان طراحي خطوط تغذيه كننده براي شبكه هايي با بيش از يك خط حمل و نقل سريع وجود داشته باشد. همچنين در مدل ارايه شده اجازه داشتن گره يا كمان مشترك در مسيرهاي انتخاب شده وجود دارد.

Encouraging passengers in order to use public transportation facilities is one of the goals of transportation planners. The most effective way to increase the market share of public transportation is enhancing its Level of Service via faster and more comfortable transportation in comparison with private vehicles. Exploitation of rapid transportation lines (Subway, BRT, and etc.) is justifiable in corridors in which the demand exceeds a minimum value. While in most of metropolitans such demand may not be present inadvertently in any of corridors, generating the needed demand and increasing the accessibility to public transportation is possible using feeder lines like feeder buses. In fact, feeder networks play a complementary role for rapid public transit lines and they increase accessibility and coverage of these rapid public transit networks. Selecting the proper set of feeder bus lines from the candidate routes and using appropriate number of buses in each line not only completes the coverage of public transportation network, but also decreases the delay of passengers using public transportation via reducing the access time of passengers to public transportation facilities. In this study, modeling and solving of the problem of designing feeder networks for rapid transit systems will be discussed.
