مثنوي، شاهكار سده هفتم ادب فارسي، از معدود آثاري است كه در عين ديرينگي از بسياري جوانب تازگي و طراوت خود را حفظ نموده است. يكي از پژوهش‌هاي ارزنده درباره اين اثر بديع، كشف تمايزات و تحولات آن نسبت به منابع و مآخذ روايات اين كتاب است. در اين پژوهش با روش تحليلي توصيفي به بررسي و تحليل عناصر روايت‌هاي مثنوي در دفتر سوم و مقايسه آن با عناصر روايت‌هاي ماخذ پرداخته شده است. بررسي انجام شده نشان مي‌دهد اجزاي زنده انگاري و پويايي داستان، ابعاد شخصيت پردازي، به كارگيري وصف و انتخاب به موقع عنصر گفتگو، حادثه و تعليق و گره‌گشايي در اوج داستان، همه و همه، روايت‌هاي مثنوي را به داستان‌هاي امروز نزديك مي‌كند. داستان‌هاي مثنوي چه از نظر عناصر روبنايي و چه ژرف ساختي بسيار گسترده‌تر از روايات مآخذ است و هنر داستان‌پردازي مولانا كه برگرفته از قوه تعقل و ادراك قوي است اين امر را برجسته مي‌سازد.

MASNAVI, the Persian masterpiece of 7th century is among the literary books which while being from ancient times but at the same time from many different aspects very fresh and modern. One of the very valuable researches about this very exquisite book has been the detection of differences and distinguishing based on sources and references of this book. This research has analytically compared the elements and narrations of the third MASNAVI booklet with those of the references, and reveals that the livability, dynamism, incidents and solving problems in critical moments of the story are all making MASNAVI narrations very close and familiar with today’s live stories. MASNAVI stories both from exposed surface elements and also deep layers are much more comprehensive than the references and MOLANA’s artistic fiction abilities plus strong perceptions makes the book so bold and heart touching.
