توسعه سياسي و جامعه مدني از جمله موضوعات مهمي است كه در سال‌هاي اخير در جامعه مطرح شده و مورد بررسي قرار گرفته است. در اين مقاله، پس از بررسي نظري موضوع و ارائه تعاريفي در باب توسعه سياسي و جامعه مدني به رابطه بين جامعه مدني و توسعه سياسي پرداخته شده است. هدف از اين مقاله تبيين جايگاه و نقش جامعه مدني در توسعه سياسي مي‌باشد. با توجه به نتايج به‌دست آمده در پژوهش حاضر نشان داد كه براي رسيدن به يك جامعه توسعه يافته سياسي بايد هم دولت توسعه گرا و هم جامعه مدني توسعه گرا وجود داشته باشد، در نهايت پس از بررسي‌هاي انجام گرفته مشخص شد كه جامعه مدني يكي از عوامل اصلي توسعه سياسي است.
