The first record of Macrobrachitm nipponense (De Haan, 1849) from Iran and its morphological comparative with Macrobrachium rosenbergii (De Man, 1879)

Importing of exotic species carries the risk of introducing unwanted species. In a case study on some impoundments in Golestan province, a number of shrimp specimens were caught and identified as M. nipponense. This species records for the first time in Iran. Because of very similar morphological attributes of M. rnipponense with M rosenbergii, it might have been mistakenly introduce instead of M rosenbergii or might have come with other released aquatics. At present it is found in some ponds ofGolestan province.
