رئاليسم از رايج‌ترين مكاتب ادبيات معاصر به‌شمار مي‌رود كه اغلب نويسندگان با اصول و روش-هاي آن به بيان مسائل و معضلات اجتماعي انسان مدرن در عصر جديد مي‌پردازند. در اين پژوهش به بررسي رمان "كارت‌پستال" از آثار برجسته رئاليستي ادبيات مهاجرت و تحليل مهم-ترين بن‌مايه‌هاي رئاليستي آن كه بيشتر متاثر از فضاي عيني و ذهني نويسنده مهاجر و محيط غرب به اثر راه پيدا كرده‌اند، پرداخته‌ايم؛ در نتيجه هم ميزان تاثير محيط بر رمان، آشكار مي‌شود و هم با ويژگي‌هاي يك اثر رئاليستي ادبيات مهاجرت بيشتر آشنا مي‌‌شويم. روح انگيز شريفيان از زمره نويسندگان ادبيات مهاجرت محسوب مي‌شود كه بيشتر آثارش را در حوزه رئاليست به نگارش درآورده است و مانند همه‌ي نويسندگان مهاجر به بازگو كردن مسائل اجتماعي روز دنياي غرب و معضلاتي كه فرد پس از مهاجرت پشت سر مي‌گذارد، توجه دارد. بنابراين مدرنيته، فرد-گرايي، فيمنيسم، نوستالژي، بحران هويت، نااميدي و ملال و تنهايي از جمله ويژگي‌هاي مهم رئاليستي متاثر از محيط غرب و تناقض‌هاي ذهني نويسنده در اين اثر به شمار مي‌روند كه به تحليل آنها اقدام كرده‌ايم.
