مقدمه: تحولات اجتماعي و تغيير چهره تهديدات از نظامي و فيزيكي به تمامي حوزه‌هاي زيست اجتماعي (اجتماعي، فرهنگي، اقتصادي، سازندگي، سياسي، اطلاعاتي، علمي و فناوري و...) نگاه سنتي به چگونگي بكارگيري سربازان را نيز تغيير داده است. روش: اين مقاله با هدف تبيين رويكردهاي نوين بكارگيري سربازان در عرصه‌هاي اجتماعي و به روش پيمايشي و با ابزار پرسشنامه (داده‌هاي به‌دست آمده از نمونه 130 نفري از افسران وظيفه كه به روش نمونه‌گيري خوشه‌اي چندمرحله‌اي و تصادفي از ميان سربازان حين خدمت در سطح شهر تهران انتخاب شده‌اند) انجام شده است. يافته‌ها: يافته‌ها نشان مي‌دهد كه تنوع مهارت‌ها‌ و توانايي تخصصي و حرفه‌اي در زمينه‌هاي مختلف و استقبال فارغ‌التحصيلان دانشگاهي در سن سربازي، اين امكان را فراهم كرده است تا در دوران صلح با هدايت اين جوانان به عرصه‌هاي سازندگي و محروميت‌زدايي، فرايند گذران خدمت سربازي را بهينه‌سازي نمود. مهمترين عرصه‌هاي مورد تمايل افسران وظيفه به‌ترتيب عبارت‌اند از: برگزاري كارگاه‌ها و اردوهاي كاري در مناطق روستايي و همچنين كار دركارگاه‌هاي توليدي و كارخانجات و فعاليت‌هاي ورزشي و تربيت‌بدني. نتيجه‌گيري: اجراي طرح «سربازان سازندگي» در سطح افسران وظيفه در ارائه خدمات اجتماعي و سازندگي در مناطق محروم، موجب جذابيت و طراوت خدمت سربازي براي اين گروه خواهد شد. سربازان در طول خدمت مي‌توانند سفيران سازندگي و سخنگويان فقر و محروميت مناطق دور افتاده باشند.
