به رغم ديدگاه‌هاي متفاوت متفكران گذشته و معاصر در تعبير انواع رؤياها، پرداختن به رؤيا در عرفان و ادبيات براي فهم ساير آموزه هاي عرفاني، نقش كليدي و معرفتي دارد؛ رؤياهايي كه در تمثيل هاي عارفان از آن‌ها ياد مي شود، حقايقي نهفته در خود دارند. اين مقاله با هدف بررسي اشارات اخلاقي و عرفاني در رؤياهاي تمثيلي و به روش توصيفي و تحليلي، رؤياهاي حكايت گونۀ مثنوي معنوي را اساس قرار داده تا بر اهميت رؤيا در بافت تمثيل‌ها و نمادهاي تعليمي مولانا، دست يابد. شيوۀ كار در اين مقاله، دسته بندي رؤياها بر اساس محتوا و شيوۀ بياني و جايگاه اخلاقي و عرفاني صاحبان رؤيا بوده است. در نتيجه به كاركرد تعليمي و سلوكي همسان اين موهبت الهي براي همۀ خواص و عوام با احراز شرايط لازم نفساني و روحاني نظر داشته ايم.
