Kiln operating parameters are crucial for determining the final quality of ceramic products and the quantity of energy required
to produce them. It is therefore important for ceramic companies and machinery suppliers to know the correct machine
operating conditions for each specific product. Control and understanding of the fluid thermodynamic phenomena
that influence kiln performance are crucial for improving the quality of the production pro-cess and reducing fuel consumption.
Numerical modelling of kiln behaviour in real operating conditions may make a big contribution to the study of new
technologies and processes compared to traditional methods based on trial and error.
