The Italian ceramic machinery and equipment industry closed 2017
with an all-time record turnover of 2.237 billion euros, 10.3% up on
the 2.028 billion euros of 2016. It was the fifth year of uninterrupted
growth.
Exports also reached an all-time high of 1.656 billion euros (up 7.1%
on 2016), accounting for 74% of the sector’s revenues. Sales in the
Italian domestic market performed very strongly with 20.3% growth
on 2016 to reach 580.6 million euros (68.4% up on 2013), boosted by
the government’s Industry 4.0 incentives.
The breakdown of turnover by client sectors (ceramic tiles, bricks and
roof tiles, sanitaryware, tableware, refractories and technical ceramics)
reveals the continued dominance of the tile machinery sector,
which in 2017 accounted for 86% of total turnover (1,927.1 million euros,
up 13.2% on 2016).
