ديگري‌شدگي هويت در رمان نوجوان (مطالعۀ موردي: رمان چشم اسب اثر جميله گوين)

Othering of Identity in Teenage Novel: The Case of "The Eye of The Horse" by Jamila Gavin

«هويت» پديده‌اي است كه در جريان مراودات اجتماعي و با ايجاد مرز ميان خودي و بيگانه ساخته مي‌شود. اهميت اين مفهوم در دوران نوجواني ضرورت بازانديشي آن را در عرصة ادبيات بيشتر مي‌كند. رمان «چشم اسب» اثر جميله گوين از جمله رمان‌هايي است كه هويت‌سازي و هويت‌پذيري مهاجران را ترسيم مي‌كند و با وام‌گيري از مفاهيم و ارزش‌هاي غربي و تركيب آن با شاخص‌هاي هويتي شرق، فرهنگ بومي شرقي (هندي) را به چالش مي‌كشد. در اين مقاله به اين پرسش پاسخ داده مي‌شود كه چگونه عناصر هويت‌ساز غرب، هويت فرد مهاجر را به چالش مي‌كشد و تغيير مي‌دهد و مؤلفه‌هايي چون ديگري بودن، دو زبانه بودن و... به چه ميزان در هويت‌دهي آنان نقش دارد؛ بر همين اساس، روابط شخصيت‌هاي رمان چشم اسب به عنوان نماد و نمايندۀ شرق و غرب و نيز تعليق و تثبيت هويت آنان در فضاي سلطه‌گرايانۀ غربي مورد بررسي و تحليل قرار مي‌گيرد. يافته‌هاي پژوهش نشان مي‌دهد نويسنده در فرآيند شكل‌گيري هويت شخصيت‌هاي نوجوان داستان با ايجاد فضايي مياني، نگرش مركززدايانه و مركزگرايانۀ شرق و غرب نسبت به يكديگر را تلفيق كرده و با خلق سوژه‌هاي پيوندي، تمايز و برتري غرب را به عنوان اصلي ثابت توجيه كرده و تابعيت و كمرنگ شدن هويت‌هاي بومي را راه ورود به‌سوي دنياي متمدن و جهاني شدن معرفي كرده است.

Identity is a phenomenon that is created in the course of social communication by creating a border between self and other. The importance of this concept during adolescence period increases the necessity of its rethinking in the field of literature. The novel of "The Eye of the Horse" is one of the novels by Jamila Gavin that represents identity-making and identity-accepting of immigrants and by borrowing Western concepts and values and combining them with Eastern identity characteristics, challenges the indigenous Oriental culture (Hindi). The present paper attempts to answer these questions: how do the identity-making elements of the West challenge and change the identity of the immigrant? an‎d to what extent factors such as otherness, bilingualism, etc. contribute to identity making? Accordingly, the relationship between the characters of the "the Eye of the Horse" novel as a symbol of the East and the West, as well as the suspension and consolidation of their identities in the Western dominant atmosphere are analyzed. The findings of this research show that in the process of forming the identity of the teenage characters of the novel the author has integrated the decentered and centered attitudes of East and West toward each other by creating an intermediate space, and has justified the supremacy of the West as a fixed principle by creating linked subjects. He has also introduced the naturalization and diminution of indigenous identities as an entry to the civilized world and globalization.
