هدف: رياضيات يكي از دروسي است كه در چگونه انديشيدن دانش آموزان نقش اساسي دارد و آموزش رياضي يكي از اهداف مهم آموزش و پرورش است. مواد و روش ها: يكي از مشكلات فعلي ما در آموزش و پرورش افت تحصيلي بسياري از دانش آموزان در رياضي است. ضعف در درس رياضي و گريز از آن هميشه به خاطر بي استعدادي و يا سخت بودن رياضيات نيست. عواملي مانند طرز تلقي دانش آموز از درس رياضي، برداشت والدين از رياضيات، برداشت دوستان از رياضيات، سابقه شكست و بسياري از عوامل ديگر مي توانند در ميزان پيشرفت در درس رياضيات تاثير بگذارند. يافته ها: همچنين يافته هاي پژوهش ها حاكي از آن است كه شايستگي هاي حرفه اي معلمان رياضي نيز در اين امر نقشي اساسي دارد. مطالعات در خصوص شايستگي‌هاي حرفه‌اي معلمان رياضي در چند دهه گذشته به ويژه در نتيجه انتقاد از عدم كارآيي دوره هاي تربيت معلم براي توسعه حرفه گرايي در معلمان اهميت زيادي پيدا كرده است. نتيجه مطالعات در سطح بين المللي نشان مي دهد كه ايجاد بهبود در يادگيري رياضي دانش‌آموزان مستلزم اعمال تغييرات مناسب در نظام تربيت معلم و توسعه شايستگي‌هاي حرفه‌اي معلمان است. نتيجه گيري: بنابراين، تعيين شايستگي‌هاي حرفه‌اي معلمان رياضي و عملكرد آنها از يك سو، بيانگر شرايط حاكم بر نظام آموزشي كشور مي باشد و از سوي ديگر، با ماهيت درس رياضي و يافته هاي جديد در آموزش اين درس تناسب دارد. از اين رو توجه به عملكرد دبيران رياضي به منظور پيشرفت دانش آموزان موضوعي قابل توجه مي باشد.

Purpose: Mathematics is one of the courses that plays a key role in how students think and mathematics education is one of the important goals of education. Materials and Methods: One of our current problems in education is the dropout of many students in mathematics. Weaknesses in math lessons and avoidance are not always due to incompetence or difficulty in mathematics. Factors such as students' perceptions of mathematics, parents' perceptions of mathematics, friends' perceptions of mathematics, failure history, and many other factors can affect the rate of progress in mathematics. Findings: Also, research findings indicate that the professional competencies of math teachers also play an essential role in this regard. Studies on the professional competencies of math teachers have become very important in the last few decades, especially as a result of criticizing the inefficiency of teacher training courses for the development of professionalism in teachers. The results of international studies show that improving students 'math learning requires appropriate changes in the teacher education system and the development of teachers' professional competencies. Conclusion: Therefore, determining the professional competencies of mathematics teachers and their performance, on the one hand, indicates the prevailing conditions in the country's educational system and, on the other hand, is appropriate to the nature of the mathematics course and new findings in teaching this course. Therefore, paying attention to the performance of math teachers in order to improve students is a significant issue
