چكيده فارسي :
طراحي اشياء در جهت مستندسازي و انتقال اطلاعات جزئي از فعاليت‌هاي اصلي باستان‌شناسي محسوب مي‌شود. طيف گسترده‌اي از اشياء در فعاليت‌هاي باستان‌شناختي مورد طراحي قرار مي‌گيرند. نوشتار حاضر به نقد ترجمه كتابي در زمينه طراحي اشياء باستان‌شناختي مي‌پردازد كه كتاب اصلي آن، منبعي اگرچه قديمي، اما نسبتاً معتبر در اين زمينه محسوب مي‌شود. با توجه به اينكه اين كتاب حتي پيش از ترجمه نيز جزء منابع بسيار مهم طراحي محسوب مي‌شد، ترجمه آن به زبان فارسي اهميت آن را نزد باستان‌شناسان دو چندان مي‌نمايد. ترجمه تحت‌اللفظي، برگردان فارسي نامفهوم و نامأنوس، كيفيت بسيار پايين تصاوير نسبت به كتاب اصلي كه نقش عمده‌اي در افزايش درك مخاطب از مطالب كتاب دارند، فصل‌بندي آشفته و نامنظم و خوانش دشوار از جمله موارد قابل نقد در ترجمه كتاب هستند. تسلط بر زبان انگليسي و داشتن آگاهي در زمينه طيف گسترده اشياء و يافته‌هاي باستان‌شناختي جهت ترجمه چنين كتبي از مواردي است كه در آينده بايستي مورد توجه مترجمين محترم قرار گيرد.
چكيده لاتين :
Drawing archaeological finds is one, among the other means of documentation and information transfer in archaeological science. A wide range of objects are drawn during archeological activities. The present paper criticizes the translation of a book on the drawing of archeological objects. The main book in original language is an outdated, but relatively reliable source. Considering that this book was regarded as one of the most important sources of drawing even before translation, its translation into Persian doubles its importance to Iranian archaeologists. The translated version of the book, which is published in Iran, suffers from literal translation, unfamiliar and unusual equivalents and low quality of the printed images, which play a major role in increasing the readers’ understanding of the content of the book. It should be considered that mastering English language and having extended knowledge of the wide range of objects and archaeological finds is necessary for the translation of source books.
