پليس به‌عنوان يكي از اركان مؤثر در اداره امور شهرها، وظيفه تأمين نظم و امنيت شهروندان را بر عهده دارد. ولي از اختيارات قانوني براي ايفاي اين نقش مهم برخوردار نيست يا اين‌كه در قوانين مربوط نقش او بسيار كم‌رنگ ديده شده است. برقراري امنيت در شهرها ارتباط مستقيمي با طراحي محيطي و ساخت و سازهاي شهري دارد؛ زيرا فضاي شهري مناسب مي‌تواند تأمين‌كننده امنيت و آرامش باشد. از سويي فضاي نامناسب شهري مي‌تواند توليد ناامني كند و زمينه‌ساز انواع آسيب‌ها و مسائل اجتماعي باشد؛ بنابراين فضاي فيزيكي بايد به‌گونه‌اي ساماندهي شود كه زمينه رفتارهاي ناهنجار در آن كاهش يابد. پژوهش حاضر با هدف تبيين نقش نيروي انتظامي در اداره امور شهري و ارائه راه‌كارهاي لازم در اين زمينه انجام شده است. اين پژوهش، كاربردي و به روش توصيفي- پيمايشي است. جامعه آماري، شامل 80 نفر از فرماندهان و رؤساي كلانتري نيروي انتظامي غرب استان تهران است كه پژوهش از آنها به‌صورت تمام شمار صورت گرفته است. روش گردآوري اطلاعات در بخش مباني نظري، كتابخانه‌اي و در تحقيقات ميداني، پرسش‌نامه‌اي است. روش تجزيه و تحليل يافته‌هاي پژوهش، استفاده از شاخص‌هاي آمار توصيفي و آزمون‌هاي مناسب آمار استنباطي با استفاده از نرم‌افزارspss است. نتايج به‌دست آمده در سه محور، نقش‌آفريني پليس در مديريت شهري از نظر پاسخ‌گويان با ميانگين 2/85 بيشترين تأثير و گستره اختيارات قانوني پليس در اجراي مؤلفه‌هاي مديريت شهري با ميانگين 2/62 در رتبه دوم و ميزان بهره‌گيري مديران شهري از دانش پليس در تصميم‌گيري‌هاي مديريت شهري با ميانگين 2/27 در پايين‌ترين رتبه قرار دارد.

This study aims to explain the role of law enforcement in urban administration and advice in this area, has done. This research is applied and descriptive survey. The Statistical Society including 80 police commanders and police chiefs of West Tehran province that research has been done of their to the full number. The data Compilation in the literature is library and in the field research is questionnaire. The results of the analysis, by using the appropriate indicators descriptive and inferential statistics is inferential statistics using spss software. obtained Results in three axes, the role of police in urban management with an average of 2.85 greatest impact and extent of the legal authority of the police in the implementation of urban management component with an average of 2.62 in second place and enjoying the urban managers from police knowledge in decision-making management with an average of 2.27 is in the lowest rank.
