نشريۀ باباشمل، از جمله نشريات برجستة طنز دهة بيست شمسي است كه توسط مهندس رضا گنجه‌اي در خلال سال‌هاي 1322 تا 1326 در تهران منتشر مي‌شد. نشرية باباشمل كه در برهه‌اي پرالتهاب از تاريخ معاصر ايران به فعاليت مي‌پرداخت، با همكاري گروهي از نويسندگان و شاعراني كه هر يك بعدها، به شهرت فراواني در عرصة ادبي كشور رسيدند، تقريباً به تمامي رخدادهاي و اتفاقات سياسي، اجتماعي، اقتصادي و فرهنگي جامعة ايران، با نگاهي طنزآميز پرداخته است و منويات و خواسته-هاي مخاطبان خود را كه عموماً از ميان توده‌هاي مردم بودند، به گوش مسئولان مي‌رساند. عمده‌ترين مطالب انتقادي و طنزآميز اين نشريه، حول مسائل سياسي مي‌چرخد. به جرأت مي‌توان گفت كه حتي كم‌اهميت‌ترين مسائل و رويدادهاي سياسي كشور نيز از گزند تيغ تيز انتقاد نويسندگان و شاعران اين نشريه، در امان نمانده است. مهم‌ترين محتواي سياسي نشريه را مسائلي همچون تهديدات كشورهاي خارجي و ترس حكومت وقت از آنها، انتقاد از عملكرد وزيران و دولتمردان، انتقاد از ناكارآمدي مجلس شوراي ملي و نمايندگان مجلس، خريد و فروش رأي مجلس، انتقاد از نقش مخرّب مستشاران خارجي، وضعيت به‌ريخته و نابسامان ادارات دولتي و... تشكيل مي‌دهد. اين مقاله با تأكيد بر محتويات نشرية باباشمل، به روش تحليل محتواي تلفيقي، مي‌كوشد گفتمان حاكم بر اين نشريه را بازگو كند.

Babashmal is one of the leading satirical magazines of the Twentieth Century which was published by Reza Ganjei during the years 1322 to 1326 in Tehran. It can be said that even the most important political issues and events in the country have not escaped the sharp criticism of the writers and poets of this magazine. The most important political content of the magazine included issues such as threats to foreign countries and fear of the government, criticizing the performance of ministers and statesmen, criticizing the inefficiency of the National Assembly and MPs, buying and selling parliamentary votes, criticizing the damaging role of foreign advisers, the situation Shattered and unstable state offices and so on.
