شكوه وغناي زبان دري كه در طي چندين قرن به پايه بسيار بلندي از تكامل رسيده است بستگي به لغت ها و تركيب هاي شيرين و دلنشين و پرمعنايي دارد كه تلفيق آنها در نظم ونثر،ادبيات فاخر را به وجود آورده است و قسمت بزرگي از آنها را بايد كنايه واصطلاح تعبير كرد. اين كنايه ها واصطلاحات در هر عصربه مناسبت اوضاع و احوال خاص آن زمان و تحولاتي كه پديد آمده به تدريج به گنجينه الفاظ دري راه يافته و با ورود در سياق سخن پيوسته و پراكنده بر حجم زبان فارسي از حيث باروري و زيبايي افزوده است. در اشعار انوري صور خيال بسياري به كار رفته است كه در اين مقاله تلاش شده جنبه هاي زيباشناسي قصايد انوري بر اساس كنايه مورد بررسي و تحليل قرار بگيرد و براي آن شواهد فراواني از قصايد زيباي اين شاعر آورده شود تا ميزاني از كاربرد كنايه و امثال وحكم در قرن ششم ارايه شود.
