Efficacy and Safety in Producing and Using Medicinal Plants and Herbal Drugs

زمينه و هدف: به رغم تمايل به مصرف گياهان دارويي و گياه‌درماني، كمتر مستند علمي در خصوص مشكلات و ضروريات مصرف اين نوع داروها، به‌ويژه در مورد اثرات جنبي، سلامت محصولات گياهي و حتي تداخلات دارويي به زبان فارسي منتشر شده است. مواد و روش‌ها: در اين مطالعه به منظور بازبيني و نقد مستندات علمي مرتبط با چالش‌هاي توليد و مصرف گياهان دارويي، مطالعه‌اي مروري با بررسي منابع از طريق كاوش در منابع علمي از بانك‌هاي اطلاعات ساينس دايركت، گوگل اسكولار، پاب مد، مگيران و سيد انجام شد و براي تهيه اصل گزارش‌ها از كتابخانه ديجيتال گيگاليب كمك گرفته شد. از واژه‌هاي «گياهان دارويي»، «اثرات معكوس»، «اثرات جانبي»، «تداخلات دارو - گياه» و «طب مكمل» براي جستجو بين سال‌هاي 2000 تا 2018 استفاده شد. سؤالات محوري مطالعه اين بود كه آيا گياهان دارويي و داروهاي گياهي عرضه شده، از سلامت و كارايي لازم براي مصرف عموم جامعه برخوردار هستند؟ و آيا مصرف بي‌رويه و توأم با داروهاي شيميايي باعث افزايش تأثير داروها خواهد شد يا خير؟ يافته‌ها: نتايج حاكي از تعدد گزارش‌هاي علمي مرتبط با اثرات دارويي و درماني گياهان دارويي بودند. عواملي همچون تبليغات، فرهنگ و دل‌زدگي از داروهاي شيميايي در گرايش به مصرف آنها دخيل بودند. گزارش‌هاي متعدد از توليد ناسالم و تقلب در گياهان دارويي و نبود تخصص در تجويز و نسخه‌دهي گياهان دارويي و داروهاي گياهي نيز وجود داشت. نتيجه‌گيري: استفاده از داروهاي گياهي بي‌مخاطره نيست. مصرف آگاهانه گياهان داوريي و توجه به اثرات جانبي و تداخلات دارويي احتمالي آنها توصيه مي‌شود. استانداردسازي فرآيندهاي توليد گياهان دارويي براي اطمينان بخشي از كارايي و ايمني آنها نيز ضروري است.

Background and Aim: Despite the tendency to use herbs and herbal medicine, less scientific documents have been published on the problems and necessities of using these types of drugs, especially on side effects, plant health and even drug interactions. Materials and Methods: In this study, in order to review and critique the scientific documents related to the challenges of production and consumption of medicinal plants, review studies by examining sources by exploring scientific sources from Science Direct, Google Scholar, PubMed, Magiran and SID databases. The original Gigalib Digital Library was used to prepare the original reports. The terms "herbs", "adverse effects", "side effects", "drug-herbal interactions" and "complementary medicine" were used to search between 2000 and 2018. The fundamental questions of the study were whether the medicinal plants and herbal medicines offered have the necessary health and efficiency for public consumption? an‎d will indiscriminate use of chemical drugs increase the effectiveness of drugs or not? Findings: Results indicated the multiplicity of scientific reports related to the medicinal and therapeutic effects of medicinal plants. Factors such as advertising, culture and dislike of chemical drugs are involved in the tendency to use them. There were numerous reports of unhealthy production and fraud in medicinal plants and lack of expertise in prescribing and medication of medicinal plants and herbal medicines. Conclusion: The use of herbal medicines is not without risk. Conscious use of herbs and attention to their possible side effects and drug interactions is recommended. Standardization of medicinal plant production processes is also necessary to ensure part of their efficiency and safety.
