داستان بهرام چوبينه در شاهنامه فردوسي ازجمله داستان هاي حماسي و تاريخي در فرهنگ ايراني به شمار مي رود. اين داستان، هم از چشم انداز ظرافت هاي روايي و پرداخت هنري، و هم از چشم انداز دلالت هاي تاريخي، داستان بسيار مهمي است. در روايت شاهنامه از اين داستان، موارد قابل تأمل حتي در ظاهر الفاظ و صور واژگان، بسيار است. يكي از اين موارد، پيامي است كه بهرام چوبينه به پرموده (پژموده) مي فرستد. نويسنده در نوشتار پيش رو، نيم بيت از داستان را «به گيتي نخورد آن كه بر پاي بست»، مورد مداقه قرار داده و اينگونه بيان مي دارد كه خوانش صحيح آن، «به گيتي نخورد آن كه زد ناي، پست» است.
