The Italian ceramic machinery and equipment industry closed 2016 with an all-time record turnover of 2,027.7 million euros, up 2.3% on 2015. Exports accounted for 76.3% of total revenues at 1,546.4 million euros (+1.6%). Italian domestic sales remained positive for the fourth year running
at 481.3 million euros (+4.5%). The breakdown of turnover by client sectors (ceramic tiles, bricks and roof tiles, sanitaryware, tableware, refractories
and technical ceramics) reveals the continued dominance
of the tile machinery sector, which in 2016 accounted for
84.1% of total turnover (1,702.3 million euros, up 4.1% on
2015).
