دعوتنامه‌ها به عنوان ژانري زباني، داده‌اي جامعه‌شناختي محسوب شده و شاخصي براي ارتباط ميان پديده‌هاي اجتماعي تلقي مي‌گردد و با بررسي دعوتنامه‌هاي يك مقطع زماني خاص مي‌توان به گفتمانهاي حاصل از پديده‌هاي اجتماعي آن مقطع پي برد. اين پژوهش تطبيقي، كه با تكيه بر تحليل ژانر و تحليل انتقادي گفتمان انجام گرفته است مي­كوشد ساختار دعوتنامه جشن ازدواج را، كه به زبانهاي عربي و فارسي نوشته شده است، بررسي كند و نقش ارزشهاي اجتماعي و فرهنگي را در شكل دادن آن مورد بررسي قرار دهد. آشنايي با رويكردهاي اجتماعي دو فرهنگ متفاوت، بررسي تأثير عوامل اجتماعي و فرهنگي بر دعوتنامه‌ها، مقايسه­ ساختار دعوتنامه‌ها و تبيين تأثير پديده‌هاي اجتماعي بر پديده‌هاي زباني از مهمترين اهداف اين پژوهش است. از آنجا كه اين پژوهش به بررسي رويكردهاي اجتماعي دو كشور پرداخته و سطح شناخت از فرهنگهاي متفاوت را افزايش مي‌دهد، ضروري به نظر مي‌رسد. نتايج تحقيق نشان مي‌دهد اهميت دادن به تنوع متن و شكل دعوتنامه جشن ازدواج در ايران نسبت به عراق برجسته‌تر، و القاب اكتسابي در عراق از اهميت و جايگاه بيشتري برخوردار است. مقوله‌هاي مذهب و مردسالاري در ساختار دعوتنامه جشن ازدواج در دو فرهنگ نقشي اساسي دارد با اين تفاوت كه نقش اين دو مقوله در دعوتنامه جشن ازدواج كشورهاي عربي از ايران پر­رنگتر است.
