فرهنگ كار و كوشش در جامعه نقش بنيادين و زيربنايي در ارتقاي سطح پويايي جوامع داشته و مشاركت اقشار مختلف در امر توليد عامل اصلي در توسعه و رفاه اقتصادي و سلامت اجتماعي است. بر اين مبنا اين پژهش با رويكرد به فرهنگ كار و كوشش در ايران باستان بر آن است دريابد در روزگار هخامنشي زنان به عنوان قشري كه نيمي از جمعيت جامعه را به خود نسبت مي دادند، در امر توليد چه نقشي داشته و در چه حوزه ها و تحت عنوان چه مشاغلي به ايفاي نقش مي پرداختند و مسالة ديگر اينكه جامعة عصر هخامنشي چه رويكردي به كارِ زنان داشته و زنان شاغل نسبت به مردان از چه مزايا و دستمزدي برخوردار بهره مند بودند؟ بدين سان با بررسي الواح مكشوفه از پرسپوليس و همچنين با رويكرد به برخي گزارشهاي تاريخي از طريق مطالعات كتابخانه اي، با نقل مندرجات الواح و گزارشها و تحليل اطلاعات و داده ها، مشخص گرديد كه در جامعة عصر هخامنشي، زنان همچون مردان در مشاغل متنوع به فعاليت مشغول بوده و به سبب اينكه هيچ ممنوعيتي از ورود زنان به حرفه اي خاص وجود نداشت و مهارت و عملكرد اشخاص در كار، برتري آنها را معين مي ساخت، اين قشر از جامعه به تعداد قابل ملاحظه اي در برخي مشاغل حتي از مردان نيز پيشي گرفته و در حاليكه همچون مردان از دستمزد و امتيازات مشابه برخوردار بودند، گاه به عنوان مديران كارگاهها بر جمعيتي از مردان و زنان رياست داشتند.
