رمان «آواز كشتگان» به ‌نقد ساختار اجتماعي، سياسي و فرهنگي جامعه روزگارش پرداخته است. در اين مقاله كوشش شده‌ تا اين اثر از منظر نظريه انتقادي مكتب فرانكفورت و با تاكيد بر نظريات هربرت ماركوزه (1898-1979) نقد و تحليل شود. ماركوزه فيلسوف و جامعه‌شناس آلماني، پدر معنوي جنبش‌هاي اعتراضي دهه 1960 شناخته ‌مي‌شود. نويسنده رمان «آواز كشتگان» با توصيف مبارزه فرهنگي قشر دانشگاهي و روشنفكر و همچنين ابزارهاي نظام حاكم در سركوب و ايجاد سلطه بر مردم، نظم موجود روزگار خود را به ‌پرسش‌كشيده و سعي مي كند گامي در جهت بهبود اوضاع جامعه خود بردارد. دستاورد پژوهش، ناظر بر اين است كه اين رمان، به نقد جامعه آن زمان در سه حوزه تسامح سركوبگر، جامعه جايگزين و صنعت فرهنگ به ‌نقد سياسي، اجتماعي و فرهنگي جامعه پرداخته است. محتواي رمان در حركت به سمت جامعه اتوپيايي ايدهآل با ديدگاه نظريه‌پردازان مكتب فرانكفورت سازگار است.

Reza Barahani, a contemporary writer, has criticized the socio-political and cultural structure of the society of his time in his numerous novels. In this article, an attempt has been made to critique and analyze one of these novels, The"Avaze koshteg@n"(The song of the slain), from the view of the Critical Theory of the Frankfurt School, with Emphasis on the Theories of Herbert Marcuse (1879-1979). The German philosopher and sociologist Marcuse is known as the spiritual father of the protest movements of the 1960s. In the novel "Avaze koshteg@n"(The song of the slain), Baraheni describes the cultural struggle of the academic and intellectual strata, as well as the tools of" the ruling system in suppressing and dominating the people, questions the existing order and tries to improve the situation of his society.The achivement of the research is that Baraheni in his critique of the society of his time in three section of repressive tolerance, alternative society and culture industry has criticized the socio-political and cultural society and has tried to change the situation of his society with the tools of art and pen.
