AIM : the purpose of this study was to ananlyze & compare the anaerobic threshold determination methods. Method : Fifteen active young men (Average age -_- SD = 21±1.32 yrs., average height ± SD = 178±5.2 cm, average weight ± SD = 64.2 ± 6.78 kg) were selected as subjects. Hoffman experimental protocol was used to determine heart rate deflection point (HRDP). During the completion of protocol, subjectsʹ heart rates were recorded every second via telemetry. At the same time, blood sampeling was accomplished in five phases via angiocat and analyzed for acid lactic concentration. Results : According to the findings, the S.D max method to determine the anaerobic threshold is an accurate method, and there is no significant difference between S.Dmax and lactate method (168±8.17 VS I67±8.83; P= 0.84). On the other hand, results shwed significant difference among Black Burn (139.3±0.3), %90 maximal heart rate (179.1±I.19), Narita (146.6±5.02) and L.Dmax (139.56±6.73), and lactate method (P<0.001;P<0.02,P<0.001;P<0.001). Conclusion : It could be suggested that S.Dmax method is an accurate and valid method to determine the anaerobic threshold. Therefore, the S.Dmax method could be a valid alternative for the traditional, expensive, and time-consuming lactate method. Thus, coaches and athletes can use the S.Dmax method for anaerobic threshoid determination and training intensity control.
