Economic Ethics in Thomas Aquinas’ Thought

امروزه به زعم فيلسوفان اخلاقِ فضيلت، نسبت به اقتصاد جهاني‌شده نمي‌توان صرفاً با حد و مرزهاي حقوقي احاطه پيدا كرد. همچنين نمي‌توان صرفاً با قوانين گوناگون و با تكيه بر منافع شخصي، مانع از پديد آمدن بحران‌هاي اقتصادي شد، بلكه به مجموعه‌اي از فضليت‌هاي اخلاقي نياز داريم. اما كدامين فضيلت‌ها بايد بر اقتصاد جهاني‌شده‌ي امروز حاكم باشند؟ براي پاسخ، مي‌توان به نظريه‌ي اخلاقي توماس آكوئيني رجوع نمود كه بر اساس پيوند ميان فضيلت و عدالت شكل گرفته است. ديدگاه او، مي‌تواند پاسخگوي بسياري از مباحث مطرح در اخلاق اقتصادي باشد. در اين جستار، نخست به اين مسئله توجه خواهيم نمود كه چگونه نظريه‌ي فضيلت توماس، با تأكيد بر نور طبيعي عقل، مي‌تواند براي غير مسيحيان و حتي غير متدينان هم كارآمد باشد. سپس توضيح خواهيم داد كه چگونه نظريه‌ي توماس در خصوص "حق طبيعي"، فضيلت و عدالت را با يكديگر متحد مي‌سازد. سپس به چالش ميان تنوع فرهنگي و وحدت اخلاقي در اقتصاد و تجارت جهاني‌شده‌ي امروز خواهيم پرداخت.

Today, in view of the philosophers of virtue ethics, the globalized economy cannot be surrounded only by legal limits. Nor can economic crises be prevented simply by appealing to various laws and based on personal interests, but what we need is a set of moral virtues. Which virtues should govern today’s globalized economy? In response to this question, we can refer to Thomas Aquinas' moral theory, which is based on the link between virtue and justice. Aquinas is one of the famous thinkers in the Christian theology, whose view can answer many of the issues raised in economic ethics. In this article, an attempt is made to first look at how Aquinas' theory of virtue, with its emphasis on the natural light of reason, can be effective for all humans, religions, and non-believers. It is then strived to explain how Aquinas' theory of natural right unites virtue and justice. Finally, the challenge between cultural diversity and ethical unity in today’s globalized economy is addressed.
