پژوهشهاي معاصر در فلسفه دين عميقا از مسايلي كه آفريده ي كاربردهاي متمايز زبان ديني مي باشد متاثر گرديده است.لذا زبان مقوله اي بسيار مهم وتاثير گذار در حوزه معرفت ديني است.چرا كه امروزه در حوزه دين شناسي،پرسش هاي تازه بسياري در باب امهات مسايل ديني ،معرفت ديني وزبان پيش روي ما قرار گرفته است.ازجمله اينكه دين چيست وغايت آن كدام است؟آيا كشف وفهم دين ممكن است ؟ودر اين راستا چه قواعد وضوابطي بايد در نظر گرفت ؟تفكيك سره از ناسره در معرفت ديني چگونه ممكن است؟مقاله حاضر در پي آن است كه چگونگي شناخت گزاره هاي ديني وميزان تاثير پذيري اين شناخت از مقوله «زبان»را از نگاه علامه محمد حسين طباطبايي وسن توماس آكوييناس مورد بررسي قرار دهد.آنچه مد نظر است شناخت آن دسته از مباني معرفت شناختي كه محدوده برداشت هاي متعدد از متون ديني را مشخص ميكند ودستيابي به پاسخهاي منطقي ومستند در جهت چگونگي پاسخگويي وشيوه ي انطباق قرآن كريم بر نيازهاي متنوع ومتغير انسانها در عصرهاي گوناگون،مي باشد.همچنين است بررسي نظريه «تمثيل»بعنوان تفكر مبنايي توماس آكوييناس كه اين مبحث با توجه به نظريه خلقت در نزد آكوييناس معنا مي يابد.
