Investigation of Properties and Applications of Chitosan-Vanillin Hydrogels: A Review

امروزه هيدروژل‌‌هاي كيتوسان به‌‌دليل داشتن خواص زيست‌‌سازگاري، زيست‌‌تجديدپذيري، ارزاني، ضدباكتريايي و غير‌‌سمّي‌‌‌‌بودن، بسيار پركاربرد هستند. براي توليد هيدروژل‌‌هاي كيتوسان، از مواد اتصال‌‌دهندۀ عرضي مختلفي استفاده مي‌‌شود كه اغلبِ آن‌‌ها سمّي و خطرناك هستند. با توجه به كاربردهاي فراوان هيدروژل‌‌هاي كيتوساني در پزشكي، دارورساني، مهندسي بافت، صنايع غذايي و كشاورزي بهتر است كه براي توليدشان از اتصال‌‌دهنده‌‌‌‌هاي عرضي امن و غيرسمّي استفاده شود. وانيل، آلدئيدي طبيعي و غيرسمّي است كه مي‌‌تواند به‌‌عنوان اتصال‌‌دهندۀ عرضي، در توليد هيدروژل‌‌هاي كيتوساني به كار رود. علاوه ‌‌بر اين، وانيل باعث افزايش خواص ضدميكروبي و مكانيكي هيدروژل كيتوسان مي‌‌شود. در اين مقاله، خصوصيات و كاربردهاي مختلف تركيب كيتوسان- وانيل ازجمله كاربرد در مواد ضدميكروبي و ضدسرطان، دارورساني، جذب يون‌‌هاي فلزي از آب، چسب زخم، مهندسي بافت، توليد عطر و پوشش‌‌هاي نگهدارندۀ مواد غذايي، محصولات كشاورزي و نساجي مرور مي‌‌شود.

Nowdays, chitosan hydrogels are widely used due to their biocompatibility, biodegradability, cheapness, antibacterial and non-toxic properties. Chitosan hydrogels are made of various crosslinkers, which most of them are toxic and hazardous. Due to many applications of the hydrogels in medicine, drug delivery, tissue engineering and food industry, it is better to use safe and non-toxic crosslinkers in order to produce chitosan hydrogels. Vanilla is a natural and non-toxic aldehyde that can be used as a crosslinker. In addition, vanilla enhances the antimicrobial and mechanical properties of chitosan hydrogels. This paper reviews the various properties and applications of the chitosan-vanilla compound, including applications in antimicrobial and anticancer agents, drug delivery, metal ion absorption from water, perfume production and food preservatives and agricultural coatings.
