Comparing dye exclusion & Tetrazolium assay in evaluating cytotoxic drugsʹ effects on neoplastic cells

In this decade, there have been rapid progresses in development of new anticancer drugs, chemotherapy methods, increase in survival of leukemic pateints which all are the result of progresses made in the cytotoxic methods for assessment of drugs. Using in-vitro models for drug evaluation has allowed screening for the appropriate drug and studying the synergistic effects of different combinations. The MTT assay has a particular role in evaluation of cytotoxic drug effects on leukemic cells, as it can be done in 96 box microplates^and it is easy to read. In this article, MTT assay has been compared with dye exclusion in evaluation of vincristin, adriablastion & cytarabinʹs effects on a cell line (K562 - Erythrolealcemra). The results of this study show that there is a correlation between the above methods in studying the cell death resulting from cytotxic drugs and considering the features of this method (speed, srupliug, and 96 box this method to study cytotoxic effects on cells, it can be used as a suitable method to study cytotoxic drugsʹ effects on neoplastic cells.
