The importance of CIC detection in blood neoplasias

In this study, the amount of serum CIC (circulating immune complex) was measured in 40 patients with non-Hodgkin lymphoma in acute, recurrence & treatment phases, and 30 individuals in the healthy control group with two methods: Poly-Ethylene Glycol (PEG) & Latex Agglutination Inhibition (LAI) test According to the PEG method, the pathological levels of CIC were measured as following: in the acute phase group 50% ,in the recurrence group 66.7% , in the treatment group 11.1% and in the control group 3.3%. An statistical analysis has been performed using student-t-test, and Chi-squaire test. The results of PEG method revealed a statistically significant difference between serum CIC levels in the active form of the disease (acute and recurrence phases) and the control group. Serum CIC levels of patients in the treatment phase (who were not clinically in remission) did not show any statistically significant difference and also it was significantly higher than serum CIC levels of the control group. According to LAI method, the pathological levels of CIC were measured as following: in the acute phase group, %59; in the recurrence group, 66.7%; in the treatment group, 44.4%; in control group, 10%. The LAI like PEG method showed a statistically significant difference between serum CIC levels in active forms of the disease (acute and recurrence phases) compared to the control group while the serum CIC level in the treatment phase did not show any statistically significant difference with the active form, and also it was signigicantly higher than serum CIC levels of the control group.
