چكيده فارسي :
رُبات‌هاي قاتل يا سامانه‌هاي تسليحاتي خودآيين (AWS) از نمونه‌هاي بارز كاربست هوش مصنوعي هستند، به نحوي كه قابليت‌ها و نگراني‌ها دربارۀ گسترش كاربست هوش مصنوعي در حوزه‌هاي مختلف را به‌خوبي نشان مي‌دهند. طبيعتاً اين موضوع واكنش‌هاي بسياري را برانگيخته است. اين سامانه‌ها از هوش مصنوعي در عملكرد اصلي خود استفاده مي‌كنند، يعني در انتخاب هدف و اقدام دربارهٔ او. طي سال‌هاي اخير اين بحث از حيث نظري در عرصه اخلاق، حقوق و سياست اهميت داشته است، با اين نگاه كه اگر چنين سلاح‌هايي در كار باشند بايد چه موضعي دربارهٔ آنها (در سطح توسعه، ساخت و استفاده) اتخاذ كرد؟ گرچه اين مسئله فارغ از امكان يا عدم امكان چنين سلاح‌هايي مهم است، پيشرفت‌هاي تكنولوژيك نيز به چنين ايدئالي نزديك شده است و اهميت مسئله را دوچندان كرده‌اند. در اين نوشته به استدلال‌هايي اخلاقي له و عليه اين سامانه‌ها مي‌پردازم. به نظر نمي‌رسد هيچ‌يك از اين استدلال‌ها براي اتخاذ موضع در اين باره كافي باشند. بنا‌براين، يا بايد استدلال‌هاي ديگري را در اين باره جست‌وجو كرد، يا اين وضع را دال بر نتيجه‌اي كلي‌تر دربارهٔ چارچوب اين بحث دانست كه نظريهٔ جنگ عادلانه است. در ضمن اين بررسي، بعضي از ابعاد اخلاقاً مهم اين عرصه مرور خواهند شد.

Killer robots or autonomous weapon systems (AWS) are representative of the
application of AI in new areas, where worries about its wide application can be
fully expressed. This being said, it is expected that such systems have elicited many
reactions. These systems use AI in their main (or critical) functions, i.e. to decide
about the target, and what to be done about it. In recent years there have been many
debates from ethical, legal, and political standpoints about such systems; these
debates revolve around what position one should adopt on their development,
production, and use. Though such questions are important theoretically, the actual
technological developments are getting closer to the ideals discussed, making the
issue even more important. Here I assess some ethical arguments for and against
AWS. It seems that none of the arguments, for or against, is compelling enough to
take a position. Therefore, either we should look for further arguments, or look into
the more general implications of the current state of arguments about the just war
theory, the main framework in which the issue is discussed. Along with this
examination, some main ethical aspects of the issue are reviewed.
