Artificial Selection as an Analogy for Natural Selection in Darwin's Views: An Analysis from a Cognitive Science Perspective

چگونگي برقراري تمثيل بين دو نوع انتخاب طبيعي و مصنوعي مورد پژوهش و مطالعه‌ي بسياري از مورخين و فلاسفه‌ي علم، زيست‌شناسي و تكامل بوده است.‌ از جمله منابع مهم در اين راستا، دست‌نوشته‌هاي داروين است كه نشان مي‌دهد در فرآيند مطالعات پژوهشي‌ داروين، چگونه تمثيلِ بين انتخاب طبيعي و مصنوعي در ذهن او شكل گرفته بود. رويكرد او به تمثيل رويكردي طبيعت‌گرايانه است. در تاريخ علم و معرفت نمونه‌هاي بسياري از تمثيل وجود دارند كه هم در مقام كشف و هم در مقام استدلال كاربرد داشته‌اند. مطابق يافته‌هاي جديد علوم شناختي ذهن آدمي بر اساس استدلال تمثيلي عمل مي‌كند به‌گونه‌اي كه تعدادي از دانشمندان علومِ شناختي بر اين باورند كه تمثيل در هسته‌ي شناخت آدمي قرار دارد. مدل‌هاي مختلفي در علوم شناختي براي اقامه‌ي تمثيل پيشنهاد شده است. پژوهش‌ها نشان مي‌دهند كه استدلال‌هاي تمثيلي به‌كارگرفته شده توسط داروين بر اساس مدل‌هاي علوم شناختي، مدل تمثيل تناسبي است با اين فرق كه براي برقراري تمثيل بين انتخاب طبيعي و مصنوعي داروين از تعدادي تمثيل‌هاي پل‌زننده و متقابلي استفاده كرده است.
