حل مسئله از اركان مهم آموزش رياضيات است و به عنوان يكي از مهم ترين اهداف آموزش رياضي در مدرسه، مورد توجه دست اندر كاران امر آموزش قرار دارد. برخي از فراگيران به دليل آشنا نبودن با مهارت هاي حل مسئله، دچار نا اميدي در كار با مسائل رياضي مي شوند ولي آموزش راهبردهاي حل مسئله به دانش آموزان مي تواند مهارت حل مسئله را در آنان، بهبود ببخشد و در آنان انگيزه بيشتري براي يادگيري رياضي به وجود آورد. بنابراين راهبردهايي كه توانايي حل مسئله دانش آموزان در رياضي را ارتقا مي دهند، بايد مورد توجه آموزشگران قرار بگيرند. در اين مقاله به شرح و توضيح پنج راهبرد: بازي هاي فكري، نقشه مفهومي، فراشناخت و راهبرد K-W-D-L كه از راهبردهاي موثر در ارتقاي توانايي حل مسئله هستند، مي پردازيم و مزاياي هركدام از راهبردها را بيان مي نماييم.
