هدف اصلي پژوهش حاضر بررسي نظري مهارت‌هاي ارتباطي-اجتماعي پليس در حوزه امنيت اقتصادي است. با آن‌كه مباحث مرتبط با امنيت اقتصادي از جنبه‌هاي مختلف مورد مطالعه انديشمندان در رشته‌هاي اقتصاد، جامعه‌شناسي اقتصادي و روابط بين‌الملل قرار گرفته است، هنوز منزلت آن در ادبيات اقتصادي كشور ما چندان شناخته شده نيست. از سوي ديگر، بسياري از ما در هر زمان و مكاني كه باشيم، ناگزير از ايجاد ارتباط با ديگران هستيم و چنين به‌نظر مي‌رسد كه نه تنها بخش قابل ملاحظه‌اي از زندگي فردي و اجتماعي ما به ايجاد ارتباط با ديگران مي‌گذرد، بلكه مشكلات ما به سبب ناآگاهي از مهارت‌هاي ارتباطي- اجتماعي افزون و پيچيده‌تر مي‌شود. ارتباط مؤثر كاركنان سازمان با ذي‌نفعان از جمله افراد در معرض بزه و بزه‌ديدگان مي‌تواند به‌عنوان عاملي مهم در نيل به اهداف سازماني مؤثر واقع شود. در اين ميان، پليس مي‌تواند نقش مهمي در برقراري امنيت اقتصادي برقرار سازد كه در پژوهش حاضر تلاش شده است تا به‌صورت نظري به اين مسئله پرداخته شود.
