شهادت و مرگ پايـان حيات انـسان نيست، انتقال از حياتي به‌ حيات‌ ديگر و ورود به عـالم‌ جـديدي‌ است كه عالي‌تر و گسترده‌تر از عالم مادي به نام عالم برزخ‌ مي باشد؛ حيات برزخي‌ يا‌ جهان پس از مرگ و مراحل مختلف آن از مـهمترين آمـوزه‌هاي ديني است. عدم اطلاعات يكسان از كيفيت حيات برزخى، منشأ اختلاف بين انديشمندان اسلام شده است. آنچه واضح است اين است كه بدون راهنمايي وحي مسائل آن براي انسان غيرقابل دسترسي است و بهترين منبع براي شناسايي و كـشف ابعـاد و زوايـاي آن قرآن و روايات است. اين پژوهش از نوع كاربردي، و با بهره‌گيري از فرايند تحقيق كتابخانه‌اي از منابع اسلامي داده‌ها را گردآوري و با روش كيفي توصيفي – تحليلي به تجزيه و تحليل پرداخته است. هدف اين پژوهش « تبيين حيات شهداء در عالم برزخ در آيات و روايات » است. اينكه مراد از حيات در عالم برزخ چيست؟ حيات شهداء در اين عالم چگونه است؟ آيا منظور از حيات برزخى شهداء، ارواح در عالم پس از مرگ است ويا حيات جسمانى و مادى؟ آنچه قطعيت دارد اين است كه مراد زنده بودن جسمي شهداء نيست، جسم آنها مانند جسم ديگران متلاشي و از بين مي‌رود. با بررسي آيات و روايات اين نتيجه به دست آمد كه منظور از حيات شهيد، حيات برزخى است كه ارواح در عالم برزخ نزد خدا زنده‌اند و روحشان از نعمت هايي كه خداوند روزي آنان كرده بهره مند مي‌شوند، و آرامش و سروري به آنان دست مي‌دهد.
