BILATERAL CATARACT EXTRACTION AND INTRAOCULAR LENS IMPLANTATION DURING SAME SETTING

Bilateral Cataract Extraction (B.C.E) with posterior chamber intraocular lens implantation (P.C.I.O.L) has been performed in few cases which resulted in no complications. The study was retrospective and concluded over a 5 years period on 186 patients (372 eyes) who underwent bilateral cataract extraction with P.C.I.O.L implantation at one setting. Incidence of major intraoperative complication specific to surgical procedure was not observed. The incidence of minor complications were noticed in 7.76% of the result were encouraging and illustrated the safety and efficacy of this group procedures. The results suggest that there are no specific risk factors in creating incidence of complications intraoperative and postoperative of bilateral cataract surgery.
