COMPARISON BETWEEN F.N.A TEST IN EVALUATION OF BREAST MASSES AND GROSS PATHOLOGY

Breast mass is one of the common disease, and procedurs for diagnosis and evaluation is important for rapid treatment. F.N.A is one of easy diagnostic procedure for evaluation of breast mass. In this descriptive cross-sectional study, 110 women with breast mass as were evaluted and tested with F.N.A. The samples were fixed with alcohol 95° and were sent to pathologist. Masses of breast were excisionally or incisionally removed and samples were evaluated with another pathologists. 110 females aged between 19-64 years were evaluated in two ways . 80% of the masses were evaluated with F.N.A and 81% evaluated with open biopsy . From 6 doubtful malignant cases in F.N.A , 2 cases were reported benign and 4 cases malignancy. In F.N.A , 8 cases were reported benign that open biopsy showed malginancy . In F.N.A , 9 cases were reported without cell that in open biopsy reported as follows. Fibrocytic 3 cases, while 1 and 5 cases in ductal ectasia and galacticels, respectively . Sensitivity of F.N.A in this study is lower than the report from other countries . Sensitivity was 65% , in the other hand 35% with negative results . Specificity of F.N.A was 100 % which is similar to other reports .
