EVALUATION OF ANOREXIA IN ACUTE APPENDICITIS

Acute appendicitis is the most common cause of acute abdominal pain. Early diagnosis and management leads to decreased mortality and morbidity. The key point for early and correct diagnosis is history and physical examination. One of the most common symptoms in acute appendicitis is anorexia.. Anorexia usually accompanies appendicitis, it is so constant that the diagnosis should be questioned if the patients is not anerotic. In this cross-sectional study, 465 cases with abdominal pain examined. 83.75% of patients had anorexia. Patients who had acute appendicitis and had anorexia. There was not related to age & sex .Anatomic position of appendix and anorexia hadnʹt any significant relation. There was a significant relation between anorexia and nausea,vomiting (P<0.0002). In over 83.75% of patient with acute appendicitis anorexia was the first symptom. Anorexia is one of the most common and important symptom of acute appendicitis that must be considered in patient with acute abdominal pain.
