The views of English travel writers on the political situation in Nasserite Iran

سده‌ نوزدهم ميلادي از مقاطع مهم و تأثيرگذار تاريخ ايران مي‌باشد. ظهور قدرت‌هاي بزرگ اروپايي و دخالت‌هاي گسترده‌ي آن‌ها در امور داخلي ايران از يك سو استقلال سياسي- اقتصادي كشور را تهديد كرد و از سوي ديگر روشنفكران ايراني را با علوم و فنون غربي آشنا نمود. موقعيت سوق‌الجيشي ايران كه در همسايگي دو ابر قدرت آن زمان روسيه و انگلستان قرار گرفته بود و رقابت اين دو كشور براي كسب منافع بيشتر موجب امضاء پيمان‌نامه‌ها و واگذاري امتيازات به آن‌ها گرديد. سفراء و نمايندگان اروپايي با بررسي اوضاع جغرافيايي و منابع كشور ايران به تأليف آثاري دست زدند كه هرچند عمدتاً در خدمت منافع ملي كشور متبوعشان بود، مي‌تواند از جنبه‌هايي در خور توجّه باشد،اما در استفاده از آن ها بايد دقت كافي كرد.نتايج ويافته هاي اين تحقيق نشان مي دهد كه گزارش و آثار سياحان و سفراء انگليسي از جامعه‌ ايران عصر ناصري كه به استبداد نهاد هيأت حاكمه، ضعف و بي‌خبري مردم از اوضاع جهاني، اختلافات داخلي بين قوميّت‌هاي مختلف، عوامل انحطاط و عقب‌ماندگي ايران اشاراتي كرده‌اند، نقد و بررسي شود.

European ambassadors and representatives, examining the geographical situation and resources of Iran, began to compile works that, although mainly serving the national interests of their respective countries, can be considered in some respects, but their use must be carefully considered. This study shows that the reports and works of British tourists and ambassadors from the Nasserite Iranian society, which pointed to the tyranny of the governing body, the weakness and ignorance of the people about the world situation, internal differences between different ethnicities, factors of Iran's decline and backwardness , Be reviewed.
