Evolution of Social Insurance Systems for Rural People in Iran and the Developed World

This paper is mainly aimed at the study of rural social security and insurance systems and their evolution in Iran and two groups of countries. The first group includes countries whose system covers comprehensively both rural and urban citizens. UK, Switzerland and South Korea are among this group of countries. The second group includes countries which have a devided and separate system for rural and agriculture sector; out of these countries, we have studied and analyzed the status quo in Mexico, Greece, Finland, Brazil and France. Given the rural and agricultural dimensions of the systems, a number of variables including security coverages, support networks, pension qualifications, rural pensions, disabilities, income sources, extent of benefits, etc. as well as the aims of each pension system and the type of rural people membership were studied. Indeed, a comprehensive social security system for rural people is an aim intended by all governments calling for the civil society. This research explores the support mechanisms, tools and coverages of rural and agriculture sector in the concerned countries.
