Investigating the Characteristics of Polyaniline and its Composite Films Prepared by Chemical Method

Polyaniline film was prepared chemically using KIO3 as an oxidant in an aqueous and non-aqueous media. The effects of various solvents such as water, ethylacetate, ethylene glycol-monomethylether, ethylmethyiketone were examined. Also the effects of different types of additives such as polyvinyl alcohol, polyethyleneglycol and polyviny-lacetate on the characteristics of films (conductivity and morphology) were studied. The results have indicated that the structure of polymer particles and its electrical conductivity are dependent on the type of solutions, additives and their concentrations. The electrical conductivity dropped due to the increasing concentration of additives and the best electrical conductivity was obtained when an aqueous and non-aqueous solution of ethylacetate was used, respectively. Also the type and concentration of additives had a major effect on the structured uniformity of particles.
