The critical period of weed control in two beans cultivars

To determine critical period of weed control in dry bean, an experiment was conducted in 2002 at Agricultural Research Station of Broujerd. The experimental design was a Randomized Complete Block with 12 Treatments and 4 replications per treatment. Treatments consisted of Two series: weed control and weed infested up to 14,28,42,56,70 day after emergence plus weed free check and weed infested check for growing season. The experiment was conducted using dry bean (Phaseolus vulgaris), cultivars Derakhshan (KRD-29) and sayyad (Rab- 50). The main, weed species included of Amaranthus albus; A retroflexus, Sorghum halepense. Convlvolus arvensis, Echinochoa crus gall and Teribulus terresteris. Based on 5% acceptable interval, the critical period in Sayyad and Derakhshan Varities at bean were 2-12 and 3-10 weaks after emergence, respectively. Since Sayyad variety has indeterminate growth, the presenu of this character resulted in its superioritiy over Derakhshan.
