The appropriate level of econometric analysis for supply of agricultural products in iran (case study)

This research investigates the identification of consistency of appropriate level of econometric analysis for some crops such as: wheat, barley, sunflower cotton and potatoes. Existing aggregation bias and specification errors in some individual (micro level) equations of acreage response about foregoing crops. In this paper for identification of consistency and appropriate level of analysis it is used the statistic and discrimination criterion proposed by Pesaran, Piers, and Kumar. The results showed that aggregate and disaggregate analysis are consistent for the analysis of acreage response of wheat, cotton and potatoes. However, there were significant statistical differences between aggregate and disaggregate analysis estimates for barley and sunflower.
