چكيده لاتين :
The relation between wind erosion which is an index for desert areas and the value of animal habitats located in these areas have attracted little attention and have not been scientifically studied. The importance of unique and worthwhile animal species of desert areas , and the description of the scientific relationship between the rate of wind erosion and the circumstances of habitats in desert areas within Khorasan province were the objectives of this study. The under study region is situated within Sarakhs city at the farthest end of northeastern Iran. The study consisted two parts: The estimation of wind erosion based on IRIFR.E.A model that has been carried out by surveying the region , preparing and developing its geomorphological, pedological and vegetation maps and meteorological statistics and also an "is erodent map". The second part consisted of an approximate demarcation of the habitat scope of each animal species in the area conducted on the basis of field observations, considering authentic reports, and the questionnaire data gathered from local inhabitants. Finally the approximate value of each habitat in the region based on three variables: food, water and safety ( human influences ) were determined. The results indicated that there is a significant and reverse correlation (r = - 0.93, R2 = 0.87 ) between the sediment content due to wind erosion in the desert area at issue and the value of the habitats situated. It indicates that the factors affecting an increased rate of wind erosion affect also the quality of animal habitat in the area and reduce the value of each habitat according to their dimensions.
